SACRAMENTO – The Senate Rules Committee, chaired by Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), appointed Frank Robinson and Paulina Gonzalez-Brito to the CalAccount Blue Ribbon Commission on August 29. The statute creating this new committee includes specific requirements for the appointees; Gonzalez-Brito fills the position for a public banking advocate and Robinson fills the position for an individual with banking expertise.
“The newly established CalAccount Blue Ribbon Commission has been tasked with evaluating the feasibility of a CalAccount public banking option,” Pro Tem Atkins said. “Frank Robinson and Paulina Gonzalez-Brito bring decades of much-needed experience in banking issues, especially in underserved communities, to the Commission. I am confident they will thoroughly vet the CalAccount option and make an advantageous recommendation for the people of California.”
